In the current age of the battle royale phenomenon and going up against major hits like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Xaviant's cult hit The Culling is taking another stab at letting players unleash their bloodlust against one another with the surprise announcement and launch of its sequel, The Culling II, coming within the next 24 hours.

Developer Xaviant has officially announced The Culling II, a sequel to the 2016 battle royale title that pitted a number of players against each other on a tropical island while having to scavenge supplies and craft weaponry to survive.

What's more surprising, however, is the fact that the game is getting a surprise launch this week, with the title to officially release on consoles and PC on July 10th, 2018. The game will retail for $19.99 on all platforms, according to the developer.

Aside from the announcement and launch date, the developer also shared the game's first trailer, which looks to be upping the ante as far as wackiness and insanity, while also doubling down on its "game show" aesthetic that will hopefully set it apart from the very competitive battle royale genre at the moment.

The Culling II will release on July 10th, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For a closer look at the game, you can check out the announcement trailer below and its first screenshots and artwork:
