Over the past several years, developer Supermassive Games (known for the hit PS4 exclusive Until Dawn) founds its niche in producing tense, suspenseful horror titles that lean heavily into player choice and narrative. The studio expanded its knack for telling horror stories with The Dark Pictures Anthology series, and coming off the release of its most recent installment, the studio seems lined up to tell the next chapter in the story sometime next year.

With the release of The Dark Pictures Anthology's most recent installment, Little Hope, players have discovered that the game features a post-credits easter egg; namely, a teaser trailer for the series' next installment. As seen in the teaser trailer, the next Dark Pictures game is called House of Ashes, and it will be launching in 2021.

You can check out the full trailer for The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes below:

From what the teaser trailer shows, House of Ashes will seemingly take place in the Middle East and focuses on a group of soldiers that appear to have uncovered an ancient burial ground that, naturally, has some unusual happenings around it. Compared to the more supernatural settings of the series' past installments, Man of Medan and Little Hope, it seems like House of Ashes will take things in a very different direction, especially with its desert setting and featuring a group of well-armed military vets.

Additionally, following the trailer's release, many have speculated that the game seems to star Ashley Tisdale as one of the lead protagonists, known for her roles in High School Musical and Scary Movie 5. At the moment it isn't officially confirmed yet if Tisdale is starring, but the female protagonist shown in the trailer definitely bears a striking resemblance to her. Additionally, Supermassive has featured well-known actors in their past games such as Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek, Shawn Ashmore, and Will Poulter, making it likely that we'll see at least one celebrity appearance in House of Ashes.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will debut sometime in 2021.
