The Dark Pictures: Little Hope Delayed to Fall 2020

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope pushes its release date back to Fall 2020 due to COVID-19.

Little Hope, the second game in Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures anthology, was originally set to launch this summer. However, due to COVID-19 forcing the team to move the entire operation into a work-from-home format, Little Hope has been delayed. Obviously, that’s not great news for fans, but safety is and should be the team’s top priority. See the announcement in full below.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope isn’t the first and probably won’t be the last game delayed due to the novel coronavirus. It’s quickly become something of an inevitability for many games. Working remotely can be just as effective as in the office. But even just transitioning the full team is going to add to a game’s development time.

All that being said, hopefully, the second helping of The Dark Pictures is worth the wait. The first entry, Man of Medan, had some interesting ideas, particularly with multiplayer. However, in terms of quality, it felt like a step down from Supermassive’s past efforts. Everything just felt kind of rushed once you hit a certain point in the story. Just as it started to turn into something, the game kind of ended.

As a massive fan of Until Dawn, I can’t help but hope that they’ve made some improvements to the formula in the past year. In the trailers we’ve seen so far, the setting certainly jumps off the page more than the haunted boat. I mean, sure, visiting the town where witch trials took place in the 1800s isn’t anything new in horror. But it does seem plausible in real life than stumbling upon a sunken ghost ship.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope launches this fall on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Give the game’s trailer a watch if you want to see what’s in store this Fall.
