The Division 2 for PC Skipping Steam, Releasing Exclusively on Epic Games Store and Uplay
In a shocking turn of events, Ubisoft has revealed that the PC version of The Division 2 will be released exclusively on the Epic Games Store and Uplay.
If you were hoping to pick up Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on Steam or most other third-party distributors on PC then you’re out of luck. In an unprecedented move on Ubisoft’s part, the mega-publisher/developer announced that the PC version of the third-person RPG/shooter will only be available on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store.
Over the past few months, we’ve seen more and more games become exclusive to Epic’s marketplace, however, this is easily the biggest title to join the list. Of course, this means that the developer can take advantage of the Epic Games Store’s perks, including its low 12% fee and Support-A-Creator programs, which allows streamers and content creators to get a profit from streaming the game.
The news doesn’t stop there, however, as Ubisoft also confirmed that they’ll be partnering with Epic to bring future titles to the platform as well. The specifics of this deal are unclear, however, it would be a cool and huge change to see every Ubisoft title moving forward release on the Epic Games Store.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is set to be released on March 15, 2019. If this news makes you want to pick up the game on consoles, try Amazon.
