Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and Nintendo Switch Dominate March NPD Charts

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is the best selling game of March 2018 while the Nintendo Switch remained top dog in regards to platforms.

It’s that time of the month again. The NPD Group’s March 2018 charts were released, giving us a better idea of which games and platforms sold the best during that month. To start things off, year over year we learned that total video game sales declined by 11% while console sales dropped by 15%.

Next, we’ll move onto the best-selling software for March 2019. New releases Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, MLB The Show 18, and Devil May Cry 5 take the top slots in that order while heavy hitters like Red Dead Redemption 2, NBA 2K19, and Grand Theft Auto V still made it high up on the list. Anthem also charting, showing that the game is still doing well:

Mat Piscatella went on to confirm today that Nintendo Switch not only the best selling console in March, but the platform that has sold the most units so far in 2019 as well.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 actually overtook Anthem to become the second best selling title of 2018. That being said, it has not yet dethroned Kingdom Hearts III, which still holds the top spot for 2019. It is also now the best selling game in the series, beating out the original Kingdom Hearts release from 2002.

Overall, 2019 has been off to a solid start for games, with good titles like The Division 2, Kingdom Hearts III, and Sekiro: Shadows Die twice all doing well. The Switch also seems to have to maintained its momentum going into its third year on the market, with a solid 2019 lineup only boding well for the system’s sales.
