Posted on the official Duelyst Steam page is a surprise announcement that's sure to sadden longtime fans of the CCG and tabletop game. Bandai Namco announced that the title, which first launched back in 2016 for Steam, will be shutting down its servers on February 27th of this year. According to the full message:

We are saddened to announce that the Duelyst servers will be shutting down permanently on February 27th, 2020 at 3:00 PM PST. Saying goodbye to any game is never easy, and it’s always hardest when you love the game as much as we all love Duelyst. We’re incredibly proud of the effort our developers have put in on Duelyst over the years, and even more proud of the amazing community of friends and gamers that have enjoyed Duelyst.

We want to thank all of you for being a part of the Duelyst family, and for making our time working on Duelyst the amazing adventure it has been.

After that the official page delves into the service closure details, which can be read just below:

The Duelyst servers will officially close on February 27th, 2020 at 3:00 PM PST. Bandai Namco Entertainment accounts will continue to be active and may be used for our other titles. Players will no longer be able to purchase Diamonds as of the time of this announcement.

We will provide refunds on all Diamond purchases made between December 21st, 2019 and January 24th, 2020 upon request. To request a refund, please visit our support page and submit a ticket. All refund requests must be received by March 30th, 2020 to be honored.

Bandai Namco will also be reducing the cost on all Diamond Orb purchases in Duelyst by 99% for fans who continue to play until the permanent server shutdown. The price of Diamond Orb Bundles are now:

  • 3 Orbs = From 450 to 4 Diamonds
  • 10 Orbs = From 1450 to 14 Diamonds
  • 25 Orbs = From 3500 to 35 Diamonds
  • 50 Orbs = From 6000 to 60 Diamonds

The game was first Kickstarted back in 2014 and launched as an open beta in 2015. In 2017 Bandai released the Immortal Vanguard free content update which came with new spells, new minions, new mechs, new artifacts, and new Generals, as well as Build mechanic for minions. The Trials of Mythron expansion that released in 2018 dropped tons of new cards to the title as well as the new Intensify mechanic. You can check out the trailer for that here.
