The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition is Unbelievably Boss

I’m about to tell you something that is as relevant to gaming as it is absurdly awesome. You know that game many people have considered the best RPG available since its release? The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? It’s getting an amazing extra special super duper collector’s edition. Okay maybe that was daft, but once I tell you what’s in it, you’ll think it’s all of those things too. Perhaps this release is to celebrate the release of The Elder Scrolls V this year, and maybe also to cement it in its place as the current king of western fantasy RPGs. Or maybe both.

This release is jam packed. You get the Game of the Year Edition of The Elder Scrolls IV as well as a ‘Making Of’ DVD which will also feature a Skyrim trailer, hopefully a new one. Another sugary sweet bonus is a coupon for $10 off the upcoming blockbuster, TES V: Skyrim and get this – it can be redeemed at any store that sells the game, anywhere in the world. Wow. There’s more: a map poster, a holographic case sleeve and a stunning steelbook case. We haven’t even reached the deal-sealer yet: all this will cost you just $30. All this for a twenty and a ten. I can barely imagine a better use for that amount of dough.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition will be available on June 28th for the same platforms Skyrim will be available on when it release on November 11th: Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It will reportedly only be available for order at local “mom and pop” game stores, meaning that it probably won’t ever hit a GameStop shelf. It should also be noted that there are rumors that only 200,000 copies of the 5th Anniversary version will ever be made, which makes the universal coupon a bit less jaw dropping than it previously was since it won’t be sold very many places. I don’t care how hard it will be to find, I’m getting it, hands down, no matter what. Will you do the same?
