Ubisoft's upcoming RPG, Child of Light, has a distinctive art design that's meant to set it apart from other games. This making-of video details how the art was created and what inspired it.

Many games have concept art which looks incredible but doesn't translate exactly into the finished product. Child of Light actually takes the concept art and puts it directly in the game. The art is inspired by 18th century artists and is meant to have a water color like appearance. The aim was to create a game that was in essence a living painting.

In a world where hyper realistic graphics rule, it's nice to see a developer take a step back and create a game which is proud to be artistic and minimalist.

Child of Light will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on April 30th.
