Have you been looking for a good psychological horror game but nothing is really scratching your itch, then maybe this title will do the trick. Today, independent developer PLAYMIND officially announced their next game, The InnerFriend, and it's taking aim at your childhood fears.

In The InnerFriend, players are tasked with saving a child, all while having to deal with the horrors and terrors that kids think up while having nightmares. Notable influences on the game include the work of Carl Jung, Stanley Kubrick, The Poltergeist, and other 80's pop culture. One of the main staples of The InnerFriend is that, while other horror games might rely on jump scares, and other cheap terrors, it instead lets the atmosphere do the talking.

To celebrate the announcement of the game, PLAYMIND also released a trailer for the game, which teases a ton of story elements, but doesn't show any actual gameplay. You can, of course, check out the trailer at the end of the article.

The InnerFriend is set to be released sometime in September 2018 and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
