The final episode of The Honor Student at Magic High School anime on September 25 revealed a new CM trailer for the upcoming adaptation of the Reminiscence Arc, with a new release date estimate.

Aniplex first announced in March 2021 that a new anime is coming for The Irregular at Magic High School, also known as Mahouka, adapting the Reminiscence Arc. The original light novel celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2021, and this new anime project is part of the celebrations.

The Irregular at Magic High School Reminiscence Arc TV anime release date estimate, trailer

Both the new commercial and the Twitter account for Mahouka confirmed the Reminiscence Arc anime will start airing in the next Winter anime season. In other words, in late December 2021, or early January 2022. A specific release day will be announced at a later time.

All of the cast of the main series was reconfirmed, with new key visuals for the characters. Needless to say, Tatsuya is still voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, and Miyuki by Saori Hayami.

The Reminscenece arc was originally in the 8th volume of the light novel series. It's a very important part for the future of the series plot-wise. Don't believe it's some kind of optional prequel.

The Irregular at Magic High School, also known as Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei or just Mahouka in Japan, is a light novel series. Written by Tsutomu Sato, with illustrations by Kana Ishida. So far in Japan, ASCII Media Works has published over 13 novel volumes for the series, through Dengeki Bunko since July 2011.

Mahouka has had at least five different manga adaptations so far, each covering different arcs and stories. The first TV anime adaptation by Studio Madhouse was aired in 2014.
