The Last Guardian May Not See Release in 2013

Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide, has disclosed in a recent interview with French gaming site Jeux Video that the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian may not see a release next year. Yoshida-san says that the team doesn’t want to talk about any firm release dates or windows because they don’t want to upset fans if they cannot keep those dates. He also says that development on the game is still chugging along and that the team is hard at work on the game engine and various technical aspects of the title.

Finally, Yoshida-san says that when they have finally nailed down a release date, they’ll be able to announce it to the world confidently. The Last Guardian was first revealed in 2009 and is being developed by Team Ico, the developers responsible for the cult classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Details regarding the game have been so scarce that I doubt anyone is still holding their breath for a release.
