The Last Guardian is just a few days away from its long (long, long, looong) awaited release, and today the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu hosted a livestream on Nico Nico showcasing about nine minutes of gameplay.

The game was played live by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan PR Yasuhiro Kitao, who is now a quite well known face among gamers, considering that he's always on the forefront of showcasing Sony's games in Japan.

We get to enjoy a level of the game, where the boy and Trico interact to overcome some really scary platforming sessions, and Trico himself looks as adorable at ever. I've been trying to pet the screen, but unfortunately it's just not the same thing. Just think of how soft and fluffy he'd feel.

Weird fantasies about the softness of Trico's feathers/fur aside, the video is quite impressive, but unfortunately it suffer from the usual awful Nico Nico combination of high compression and low resolution.

Incidentally, Sony Japan has been releasing some quite funny and slightly self-ironic (not to mention nostalgic) live-action commercials for the game. You can check out the first two here and here.

The Last Guardian will release in North America and in Japan on December 6th, while European fans will have to wait until Decmber 7th. Gamers in the UK unfortunately get to wait even longer until December 9th.
