Odd Tales Explains Why The Last Night Didn’t Launch Last Year

The Last Night didn't launch last year and had to have The Game Awards trailer canceled. Odd Tales' founder Tim Soret shared why.

The Last Night was due to launch last year in 2018 for Xbox One and PC but it never saw the light of day. As it turns out, the founder of Odd Tales Tim Soret has been having a fair amount of issues that have pushed the project back.

As 2018 was drawing to a close a large majority of users were reflecting on their year listing positive, and negative events and achievements. Taking to Twitter, Tim Soret starts off the Twitter thread by wishing everyone a Happy New Year followed by a meme showing The Last Night taking a path around the year 2018, signifying the title not launching as intended.

Following that, Soret reflects on the positives of the year, stating that they doubled the Odd Tales team, the budget for The Last Night got a “massive raise”, and more developmental positives you can find in the Tweet embedded below.

However, following that was Soret detailing that the studio encountered business, legal, and funding issues that they cannot discuss. The Last Night developers were also due to show off a new trailer at The Game Awards 2018 but ended up having to cancel the trailer. He also states that they are now currently raising funds.

Soret also ends his thread by listing some impressive stats, revealing that the reveal trailer has now racked up 1,000,000 views with more than 6 million views on all channels. The Last Night has also been wishlisted on Steam 186,000 times.

It’s certainly sad to see The Last Night go from being planned to release and now have the release date listed as TBA, but it seems as if the project is still planned to continue for now.

The Last Night is still listed for a planned launch for PC and Xbox One.
