TLOU2 player unearths a sweet interaction between Ellie and Joel that didn't make it to the final game.

You don't need me to tell you that The Last of Us Part 2 is teeming with hidden content like Easter Eggs and other cool unique behaviours between the characters. Since the title launched back in June last year, not only has the controversial game received bag loads of awesome cosplays and fan art, we've also been treated to watching players take on the gruesome and horrific stalkers using only their fists for entertainment.

Unsurprising with a game as vast and as detailed as TLOU2, fans are still finding all kinds of things but this time, a player has stumbled across a whole conversation between Joel and Ellie regarding the origins of her infamous moth tattoo.

Reddit user taegukie who is an engineering student has stitched together a discarded discussion in which Joel and Ellie were having about Ellie's tattoo but Naughty Dog had decided to remove it to possibly give the meaning to Ellie's tattoo more impact.

Taegukie believes that the unused conversation was meant to happen during the Finding Strings scene where Ellie and Joel take off on horses to find some strings for the guitar. During the journey to the music store, Joel starts a conversation with Ellie about the Savage Starlight comic he’s been reading.

As you can hear from the embedded conversation above, Joel refers to Ellie's tattoo as a moth hologram which goes back to the comic topic of Dr Daniela Star and if that's where she got the inspiration from. The eagle-eyed player went back to this scene and on closer inspection, they were able to piece together this dialogue due to Joel’s lines not being in a logical order and a lot of Ellie’s lines seem to be missing also coupled with lots of short replies.

Taegukie states that "my guess is that this is where Ellie’s inspiration for the moth tattoo would’ve come from, but in the end, they decided to relate it to Joel’s guitar and turn it into something more personal connecting Joel and Ellie."

It's an incredibly in-depth and well pieced together discovery and also truly amazing to think what else in TLOU2 is just waiting to be uncovered. You can guarantee, I'll be here to write about it.
