Ellie from The Last of Us 2 is influenced by the epic war movie Apocalypse Now in a stunning piece of artwork.

There are many metaphors in Naughty Dog's 2020 title The Last of Us Part 2 and also many lessons could be learnt throughout its gameplay. Whether the takeaway might be how not to let revenge get its claws into you so much that you lose everything you held dear or how close to the moral boundaries one should tiptoe to merely survive.

Whatever the cautionary tale may be for each player, The Last of Us 2 is packed with the bad, and also good parts of the human psyche. When it comes to the artistically minded creators who love nothing more than diving into the game's stunning visuals, it was only a matter of time before someone drew some comparisons to Francis Ford Coppola's, Apocalypse Now.

Ellie X Apocalypse Now

3D Artist Fuego has created something really special by incorporating Ellie and a scene from the movie Apocalypse Now where Captain Willard, played by Charlie Sheen, immerges out of the water to kill Colonel Kurtz. The iconic image of Captain Willard in the water has been the literal poster child for the 1979 American epic psychological war film that also stars Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Frederic Forrest.

What makes this digital art even more intense is the similarities between Apocalypse Now and The Last of Us Part 2 as both is a metaphor for self-discovery in the face of great struggles and how the descent into mental trauma is prolific as reality is slowly separated.

Of course, the image also mirrors when Ellie was swimming up to the hospital area and listened to the WLF guards talking about how Abby escaped so to get more intel on finding her.
