With the disappointing news last week that The Last of Us Part 2 would now be moved from 21, February 2020 to its new date of May 29, 2020, we needed something to cheer us all up, right? Good thing we all have Ami Thompson, an Art director and animator at Walt Disney Animation Studio, who has just the right medicine to bring a smile to our faces in her lastest illustration that displays a joyful Ellie and a patient but fed up Joel as Ellie reads him one of her jokes - although this time Ami has added in a little easter egg on the front cover of the book that shows the goose from the popular 'Untitled Goose Game'.

Ami sketches into the art piece one of the many vehicles that are laying around the post-apocalyptic world in The Last of Us which has, over time, grown moss and has become completely stationary. By the look on Joel's face, he isn't finding Ellie's crack at humor all that funny, but he's seemingly putting up with it like we have seen him do countless times through-out the actual gameplay. A young Ellie, on the other hand, looks as though she's having the time of her life in which, let's face it, is totally needed in the non-humourous, dark, and gritty environment The Last of Us is set in.

This isn't the first time we have seen one of Ami's wonderful The Last of Us illustrations here on the site as not too long ago, we showcased her intense interpretation of Ellie and Dina from The Last of Us Part II that saw Vice President of Naughty Dog and co-writer/director Neil Drunkmann take to Twitter "in awe" of Ami's work which is probably the highest of compliments you could receive.

You can check out Ami's work over on Twitter and on Instagram where there's a whole host of artistic talent you can feast your eyes on that includes Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

For those who were disappointed that The Last of Us Part II would not include a multiplayer, you may like to read why I thought it was the best idea for the studio. You can also check out the insane mashup of The Last of Us and A Plague Tale: Innocence in YouTuber USNIM's latest trailer.

The Last of Us Part II will release exclusively for PS4 on May 29, 2020, and you can pre-order the game now over on Amazon.
