As rumors of a The Last of Us remake continue to cycle the internet, one fan took to creating a stunning remake themselves in Unreal Engine 5.

There's no denying that Naughty Dog's The Last of Us is an iconic game. From its characters to its unique zombie design, the game has continued to enjoy lasting popularity and a thriving fan base. Though The Last of Us's immense success has led to both a massively popular sequel game and to an upcoming major network TV show, any official news of a remake still remains up in the air.

As fans continue to wait excitedly for an official announcement, some have taken the game into their own hands. One such fan, Content creator Enfant Terrible, took to Unreal Engine 5 to reimagine The Last of Us in a stunningly realistic remake.

YOUTUBER ENFANT TERRIBLE'S THE LAST OF US UNREAL ENGINE 5 REMAKE

Unreal Engine is an advanced 3D creation tool developed by Epic Games, used widely across the gaming industry as a game-making engine. The engine's latest iteration, Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), launched in April 2022, providing new elements for game makers to utilize.

Inspired by UE5's improved tools, content creator Enfant Terrible took to creating a full-length trailer for a TLOU remake. Recreated in gorgeous detail, the trailer presents the apocalyptic world through a realistic and cinematic lens.

A young Ellie hiding from a Clicker

With sweeping shots of broken-down cities and slow pans of Ellie hiding from a clicker, the trailer shows off the power of Unreal's advanced graphic systems. The in-game environments look so utterly realistic that it's easy to mistake them for real-life scenes. It's certainly a step up from the game's original graphics, truly bringing the character and world to life in mind-blowing detail.

While Enfant Terrible led the project, they utilized assets from a number of other creators: Hossein Diba, Sciontidesign, Quixel, Tore Erel, Jiyad Nassar, and Leonal Sabu. Altogether, their collective talents have created a remake trailer that both honors and elevates the original game.

We can only hope that Sony or Naughty Dog releases any news of an official remake soon; however, until then, we at least have this gorgeous project to fan over.

The Last of Us Part II is available to play on the PS4.
