According to the rankings held by the dedicated blog Gotypicks, The Last of Us has finally overtaken The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the game that received the most Game of the Year awards from critics in recorded history, as discovered by NeoGaf user Canis lupus.

The Last of Us - 231

The Critics' Picks - 181

The Readers' Picks - 50

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 226

The Critics' Picks - 163

The Readers' Picks - 63

While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim still holds the leadership for readers' picks awards, The Last of Us now holds both leading positions for overall awards and Game of the Year awards from critics.

Gotypicks started tracking Game of the Year and readers' picks awards from basically every publication that assigns them a decade ago. Considering that before that date there weren't nearly as many video game websites as there are now, it's very safe to assume that no other game ever managed to gather as many top honors.

Our congratulations go to Naughty Dog for a well deserved achievement.
