The Last of US: Naughty Dog Left Outbreak Out Intentionally: “Certainly Left that Narrative Space Open”

Many wondered why Naught Dog left twenty years open between the first two chapters of The Last of Us. In the comments of an article on the European PlayStation Blog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli explained that the omission of the outbreak period was intentional.


While Monacelli says that he’s not sure if Naughty Dog will ever revisit the outbreak, the “we certainly left that narrative space open” wording seems to indicate that at the very least there’s a chance to see that period turned into something interesting.
