In reports from IGN and Nerd4.life, images from a cancelled The Last of Us animated movie have surfaced online.

"In anticipation of The Last of Us Part II, we were asked to create a compelling short film depictiing that main characters Joel and Ellie as they retell their dramatic story chronicled in the original game," says Oddfellow's website, the studio that was going to make the movie."

As it's stated on Nerd4.life, the purpose of the 20 minute short film was to retell the first Last of Us game and cater it to fans both old and new. Additionally, Oddfellows says they drew inspriation from the Blade Runner animated films and The Animatrix.

"Our proposal was to reinterpret each of the chapters of the game with a unique visual twist," continues Oddfellows. "Using singular narrative devices would allow us to bridge the styles and travel seamlessly between the past and present. Ultimately Sony decided not to move forward with this project."

If you're interested in checking out what the film would've looked like, images and storyboard art are available on Oddfellow's portfolio page. You can check out some of the photos below.
