Naughty Dog's anticipated PS4 exclusive title, The Last of Us Part 2 appears to have had a release date revealed after the placeholder on Amazon's Italian website points to the game launching next year. But don't fall for the bait -- there is a near-zero chance this is going to be the released date (or window) for The Last of Us Part 2.

We can understand why some people may think this is the real deal. There hasn't been any official confirmation of the release date for The Last of Us Part 2 since its reveal back in 2016, and while most of the game is still being kept quiet, we have seen official gameplay being shown at this years E3 conference. On top of that, Naughty Dog stated back in June that the release date for The Last of Us Part 2 would be announced when it's "very close".

For reference, the Amazon store listing is still available to view here and shows the availability as March 29, 2019. While this shouldn't be treated as gospel, the IMDB page does show that the status is set to "filming". While it might not be related, it's worth remembering that Kojima Productions' Death Stranding received a placeholder for 2019 and the IMDB page states the title is in "filming" as well. If both of those statuses are accurate, we likely won't see this game until late-2019 or 2020. Lest we remember, Goofy's voice actor said that Kingdom Hearts 3 would be releasing "soon" because his recording session wrapped -- that statement was in 2015.

Anyone who has been following the industry for long enough knows that Amazon and other storefronts tend to use placeholder dates on listings. March 29, 2019 is the end of the fiscal year Q4 2018, which is why it is so regularly chosen. With that said, it is fully unbelievable that PlayStation, Sony, and Naughty Dog would be so close to release without spending so much as a minute on advertisement. Heck, we would have at least seen something shown at The Game Awards 2018!

The Last of Us Part 2 will be available for PS4, no official release date has been confirmed.
