The Last of Us Part II made its long-awaited return during PlayStation's State of Play stream today, and in the process, Naughty Dog finally revealed when the game will be launching.
As past rumors indicated, The Last of Us Part II will indeed be arriving in February 2020. The exact launch date is February 21, 2020 and it will be arriving exclusively on the PS4.
The release date for the game was announced alongside a new trailer for The Last of Us Part II which offers up more details on the narrative. The story seems to center around Ellie, who is out for revenge against a certain group of people. Based on the trailer, it seems that this group may have killed Dina, Ellie's love interest that we saw in a previous trailer for the game.
The trailer finally concludes with our first look at Joel from The Last of Us Part II. Even though the game was originally revealed all the way back in 2016, we had yet to actually see what Joel himself looked like this time around, outside of a silhouette and brief voice line. This reveal also finally confirms that, no, Joel is not dead in The Last of Us Part II and won't be some sort of ghost. Thank god we can finally kill off that ridiculous theory.
