The Last of Us Part II Completion Rate Has Risen to 60%

Despite dividing a fanbase, The Last of Us Part II has a high completion rating.

It’s no secret that not every player finishes a game they buy. Heck, not everyone gets the first “gimme” trophy that many games have for completing simple tasks for the first time, so it’s always nice to get a trophy with a small completion rate after a great game and see what percentage of players have finished it as well. At time of writing, The Last of Us Part II is sitting at a 60% completion rate for the trophy tied to the main story.

The trophy in question is called “What I Had to Do” and the qualification for it is simply “complete the story.” Because there’s no difficulty tied to the trophy it means that anyone who’s seen the game to the end can get it but having a 60% completion rate is very high for a roughly 24-hour game.

When comparing this trophy to similar completion trophies in other Naughty Dog games, you can see the difference. Only 40.4% of players completed the game in The Last of Us Remastered on the lowest difficulty setting and 35.5% completed Uncharted 4.

Additionally, you can see the difference when looking at other big AAA games released this year. 39.0% of players finished Doom: Eternal and 45.8% completed Ghost of Tsushima.

While these completion rates are higher than the widely accepted estimate that only 20% of players will finish any given game, it just goes to show that there’s something in The Last of Us Part II that people have found gripping until the end.

Despite being divisive among fans, it’s good to know that a portion of the player base surrounding the game is seeing it to the end before jumping on the bandwagon of saying “it’s great because X!” or “it’s terrible because Y!”
