As one of the most anticipated games of the year, The Last of Us Part II has been a long time coming. From what we've seen of the game so far, the next chapter of Ellie and Joel's story will be one to remember, and a new cinematic commercial for the game captures the unique qualities that have made The Last of Us so profound.

Ahead of its launch later this month, PlayStation has released a new extended TV commercial for The Last of Us Part II. The video runs for about a minute and a half, and while it doesn't feature any gameplay footage or cutscenes from the game itself, the cinematic trailer carries a lot of the thematic weight and tone that we'll surely expect to see from the final game.

The commercial captures a cinematic, CGI look as it shifts between scenes of Ellie playing guitar and singing a song against the backdrop of her fighting to survive in a brutal, harrowing post-apocalyptic world. In the commercial, we also get a quick glimpse of Ellie's partner Dina, while also witnessing some incredibly choreographed and animated scenes unfold.

At the moment, Naughty Dog's anticipated sequel is now just over two weeks away from release. Most recently, Naughty Dog gave us a look at what to expect from TLOU Part II with a dedicated State of Play presentation last week. In the course of the stream, this latest deep dive into TLOU Part II showed us glimpses of combat, exploration, and what to expect from the world and enemies that Ellie will be facing. So far, that has included new types of Infected to face, brutal gangs and factions to avoid, and apparently, the last-known PlayStation Vita player on Earth.

The Last of Us Part II will release exclusively for PS4 on June 19, 2020.
