For those who were excited to finally get their hands on The Last of Us Part 2 in a few month's time on February 21, 2020, it looks like they will have to wait a little longer. According to sources who reached out to Kotakuthe highly anticipated PS4 sequel to The Last of Us has been delayed until spring 2020.

Currently, this is being treated as a rumor as a statement hasn't been released by Sony or Naughty Dog as yet but Kotaku has heard from two people familiar with inside knowledge at Naughty Dog that the game has been postponed until some stage in the springtime next year. Kotaku has stated that they "expect an announcement this week" confirming the news. This certainly isn't ideal information at all for those who have been waiting patiently on the title and it seems quite strange mere weeks after the big reveal event they hosted at PlayStation’s State of Play that they now announce the delay. But either way here is hoping it'll be released in the early part of Spring given that this report is true.

The Last of Us Part 2 has succumbed to a lot of rumors and leaks since it was revealed all the way back in December 2016. Some of those included that the post-apocalyptic third-person shooter was originally slated for a fall 2019 release, before apparently being pushed back to early 2020 and The Last of Us Part 2 will release on February 2020 with four editions; a standard edition, a special edition, a collector's edition, and an Ellie edition. Thankfully, we have seen these particular leaks and rumors to be true but this is one rumor I really hope that isn't having waited for so long to play the sequel but I'm sure if it is delayed, there's a really good reason for it.

For now, we will wait to receive a statement from Sony and keep our toes and fingers crossed!
