The past few weeks have been a tumultuous time for those that have been looking forward to the long-awaited The Last of Us Part II. As a result of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, Sony and Naughty Dog announced that The Last of Us Part II was to be delayed indefinitely, while major leaks in the past week have spread some of the game's most poignant story moments online. In light of this, it was finally confirmed that the game will be arriving in June, with pre-orders for the game now starting to be restored.

The PlayStation Store page for The Last of Us Part II has reappeared after temporarily being taken down by Sony when it was delayed from its previous May release date. Presumably, this action was taken to prevent more pre-orders from being placed without a firm confirmation of when the game would be released, with Sony cancelling pre-orders and offering refunds to customers that had already pre-ordered the title. However, as of today it appears that The Last of Us Part II's page on the PlayStation Store is reopened and is available once again to pre-order digitally.

Yesterday, Sony and Naughty Dog confirmed that The Last of Us Part II will have a new release date of June 19, 2020, which marks about a three-week delay from when the game was planned to launch in late May. Sony also confirmed that its next (and likely last) major first-party PS4 exclusive, Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima, would also have a delay from its late June release to July 17, 2020. A new release date still hasn't been confirmed yet for Iron Man VR, which was also delayed alongside TLOU Part II earlier this Month and was planned to launch in May.

The Last of Us Part II will release exclusively for PS4 on June 19, 2020.
