UPDATE: Since publishing this article, The Last of Us Part I Remake has been confirmed via a PlayStation Direct leak. The title will be coming to PlayStation 5 on September 2nd, followed by a PC release at a later date.

The Last of Us Remake might not be a PlayStation exclusive title as previously thought, as an industry insider claims the rumoured title will be hitting both PC and PS5 this September.

Although Naughty Dog is yet to announce a remake of The Last of Us, it's slowly becoming the worst kept secret in gaming. Previously, Jeff Grubb had gone on record to state that he believes the remake will launch this holiday season, whilst fellow insider Tom Henderson also believes a fall 2022 release is likely.

With Sony dedicated to bringing their biggest exclusives to PC, it should come as no surprise that The Last of Us Remake would be included in the huge lineup. Recent years have seen the likes of God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and more made available via Steam.

The latest State of Play event also confirmed that Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales would be joining Steam on August 12th, 2022.

The Last of Us Remake Could Be Hitting PC & PS5 This September

Industry insider and leaker '

" rel="nofollow">insider_wtf' recently took to Twitter to tease fans with 'PART 1 - 02.09.022' followed by two emojis suggesting a PlayStation and PC release. Of course, the tease doesn't actually specify that it's in regards to The Last of Us, but it didn't take fans long to connect the dots.

As the sequel to The Last of Us was subtitled 'Part II', many fans believe the tweet in question is clearly making reference to a remake of Part I. As for the credibility of the insider, insider_wtf previously leaked the entirety of Sony's recent State of Play event, as well as the name of Kojima's next project.

Of course, we still recommend you take these details with a pinch of salt. Although leakers can often be correct, plans can change behind the scenes before any announcements are made.

With Summer Game Fest quite literally a matter of hours away, it's highly likely that if The Last of Us Remake is real and coming so soon, an announcement is surely imminent.
