HBO Max has announced that an official podcast for HBO's The Last of Us series is in the works. The podcast will be hosted by Troy Baker, the voice actor behind Joel Miller in the original video games, and feature the show's creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann as guests. According to the official blog post, the companion podcast will offer an in-depth analysis of the highly anticipated adaptation and a "scene-by-scene dive of each episode."
Two years after its announcement, HBO's The Last of Us adaptation is now set to debut on January 15 on the HBO Max app and will be accompanied by a podcast series as well. The announcement on WarnerMedia shares that the companion podcast will follow the show's first season and feature the show's creative minds as guests. Craig Mazin, who believes that the game's story is the greatest ever among video games, will analyze the scenes with Neil Druckmann, the writer and the director of the critically acclaimed video game series.
It is worth noting that this is not Baker's and Druckmann's first foray into podcasting, though. The duo also released a podcast series featuring co-writer Hally Gross and stars Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, and Laura Bailey back in 2020. While that series mostly revolved around The Last of Us Part I and the development process of the sequel, the upcoming podcast will mostly focus on the cinematic choices behind the adaptation, and why the show's creators went with certain decisions in the development.
It is currently not known whether the show will feature the stars of the show like Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascall or Anna Torv, or others. But it will offer a deep dive into the first season, which consists of 10 episodes. Exactly when the podcast will premiere is also yet to be confirmed.
In other The Last Of Us news, it was recently revealed that Jensen Ackles had been pushing hard to land the role of Joel Miller in the TV adaptation. Ackles is mostly known for his Dean Winchester performance in Supernatural and recently took the role of Soldier Boy in Amazon's The Boys. But the star revealed that he had been pushing hard to take the role of Joel in HBO's The Last of Us. While a great number of fans think that Ackles would be a good fit, Pedro Pascal's performance as Joel seen in the trailers has already received positive reception.
