The Last Story, Valkyria Chronicles 3 Top the Charts in Japan

By Chad Awkerman

February 2, 2011

This was probably expected, considering Nintendo had a hard time keeping up with demand for Mistwalker’s latest RPG, The Last Story, but that title topped the sales charts in Japan this week, moving a whopping 114,722 units. Following behind it in the second spot was Valkyria Chronicles 3, with a respectable 102,779 copies sold.

Previous chart toppers Monster Hunter Freedom 3 and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep – Final Mix have been bumped down to the 7th and 9th spots on the list, respectively. Still, it’s really nice to see The Last Story have such huge success in its native territory. Let’s hope it sees a similar successful launch when it comes out in Western regions.
