I love old-school 2D platformers and I love Heavy Metal. Is it any wonder then that the launch trailer for Shovel Knight has me excited? It’s as if Yacht Club Games went: “Let’s get Tony into this game.” Mission: Complete.
The titular knight’s weapon is a shovel which is appropriately called the “Shovelblade” and he must use it, along with his various platforming skills, to defeat the Enchantress and rescue his beloved. Along the way he’ll have to face off against The Order of No Quarter, a group of knights who will try to stop him from completing his quest. The game wears its influences on its sleeves and I love it for that.
Shovel Knight will be available on the 3DS, Wii U and Steam on June 26th.
