Trails Into Reverie – the next entry in the Legend of Heroes JRPG franchise – is now set to release in the west on July 7, 2023, according to publisher NIS America in a recently released story trailer.

Trails Into Reverie is the latest installment in the interconnected Legend of Heroes series spanning thirteen main entries so far, and several spinoff games as well. It was originally released in Japan in 2020 under the name Hajimari no Kiseki/Trails of the Beginning (創の軌跡), and was named so because it marked the start towards the conclusion of the series' overall story. It also acts as a conclusion to the previous story arcs–Crossbell and Erebonia–and features more than 50 playable characters from all over the series, including old antagonists and completely new characters.

Trails Into Reverie was teased before for a summer release, and a number of editions were announced as well. The new trailer teases the "Crossroads" system, in which the players can freely switch between three distinct story routes, each with a focus on a different protagonist. The first route focuses on Rean Schwarzer, the protagonist of the Cold Steel series and the hero of the Erebonian continent. The second route tackles the epilogue of Lloyd Bannings and the Crossbell Special Support Section. The third story introduces the new mysterious masked character "C", whose identity is already known to those who played the Japanese version, so fans should take care to avoid spoilers until the western release.

From the Steam description, we can assume the new battle feature Valiant Rage was localized as United Front. It is a new system that makes use of the abundance of characters particular to this entry to give you an edge in battle. You need at least 5-10 characters to use it, but it will allow you to cast many helpful arts and attacks and replenish your party action points much quicker than before. The game also introduces the True Reverie Corridor, which is a random generated dungeon that allows you to encounter and use characters from all over the continent of Zemuria, the main region where the story occurs.

Trails Into Reverie is planned for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
