Today is a big day for Nintendo. Fans are waiting all day for the first proper Nintendo Direct since September of 2019 and have quite the expectations for what the presentation will bring. We know that we'll be getting information on Smash Bros. but have no idea what other games might be discussed. As 2021 marks the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, there are some expectations that the series and its teased sequel to Breath of the Wild will come up in some form or another. Recently, it was rumored that the Breath of the Wild sequel The Legend of Zelda Echoes of the Past would be announced at an upcoming Nintendo Direct, so here's everything we know about it so far.The title, The Legend of Zelda Echoes of the Past, was first introduced

" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a tweet of a "leaked" Nintendo Direct overview set to air January 11, 2021. The list of announcements was almost certainly fake as DualShockers' Cam Hawkins pointed out in his coverage of it.

Despite radio silence from Nintendo on the air date from the leaked document, many Zelda fans still believe that Echoes of the Past is real and will be announced in the Direct today. This misinformation is aided by a Fandom.com page that claims the game exists and has already been announced. The overview for the game reads:

"The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of the Past is the twentieth main installment of The Legend of Zelda series. It was released simultaneously worldwide for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Plus on March 14, 2022."

The rumored Nintendo Switch Plus (otherwise known as the Switch Pro) was also a part of the initial "leaked" Direct. There's more evidence to support the existence of a new Switch model, however, as Nintendo has officially commented on it.

As of right now, it's unclear whether The Legend of Zelda Echoes of the Past is real or not. All we have to do though to find out is wait for the Direct to air tonight. Once it does, you'll be able to find all Nintendo coverage of it right here on DualShockers.
