While we are still just over a week from the global release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the game's data has been leaked online. This has enabled enthusiasts to successfully run the upcoming game on Nintendo Switch emulation software.

The remaining days until launch are going to be tough for fans, as spoilers will likely begin to circulate online. Any content that contains spoilers will probably be taken down by Nintendo shortly.

According to those that have emulated the upcoming game, Ryujinx is the only emulator currently able to run The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, with the ROM now available online, we can probably expect other emulators such as Yuzu to add the game to their support list in the near future as well.

It's only a matter of time before the emulators will be able to run the game smoothly, as happened with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is entirely playable now via Yuzu or Cemu on PC. However, other games remain unoptimised and unplayable on emulation software.

Nintendo is yet to react officially to the leak, but it's unlikely they'll be able to stem the flow now that the data is out there. Although sharing the ROM file for Tears of the Kingdom is illegal on official websites and social media channels, people familiar with piracy won't see this as any barrier and the file will likely continue to spread unabated.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release on May 12 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The game will be Nintendo's first self-published title to carry a price tag of $70.
