The Long Dark Adds Founder’s Status for Higher-Tier Donors, Oculus Rift Goal Could be Adjusted
The Long Dark is nearly to its halfway point in funding, and the developers over at Hinterland Games have an interesting proposition for current and prospective donors: reach $100,000 by October 2nd, 2013, and Oculus Rift support will be lowered from the $250,000 stretch goal, to the base goal of $200,000. “[The Oculus Rift is] the perfect fit for the kind of exploration-focused first-person game we’re making. We’d love to get it to you,” the developers wrote on their Kickstarter page.
There is an incentive to either jumping in with a large donation, or upping your current one. Any person who donates $1,o00 or more will be granted “Founder’s Status,” which will be reflected as a special credit in The Long Dark and all future Hinterland Games projects. These donors will also receive every single future Hinterland title in addition to The Long Dark. This includes early information and early beta access as well.
The Long Dark is being developed by Hinterland Games for the PC, Mac, and Linux. The developers are shooting for an October 2014 release, and hope to eventually have the game released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well.
