After its announcement in May, we've received a new trailer for The Medium which introduces players to its story and characters.

Clocking in at over two minutes, the trailer showcases the main character as she goes between the real world and a supernatural world. She comes across a little girl in the supernatural world but is pulled away once the Maw, the main antagonist of the game, makes itself known. You can watch the latest trailer below.

For those that don't know, The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game where you're going between two realities. In both realities, you'll have to solve puzzles, survive against spirits, and discover unsettling secrets along the way. This game comes from Bloober Team, the developer behind the Layers of Fear franchise, Blair Witch, and Observer. Additionally, Bloober will be releasing Observer: System Redux as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

The Medium was announced in May during Microsoft's Inside Xbox. Bloober Team has confirmed the game will be next-gen only due to the gameplay mechanics they developed. Additionally, a behind the scenes trailer was recently released and confirms that actor Troy Baker will portray The Maw. More recently, Baker played Joel in The Last of Us Part II and Bruce Banner in Marvel's Avengers.

The latest trailer comes after a crazy week for Xbox. The day before preorders for the Series X and Series S went up, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Bethesda and Zenimax Media. This means Bethesda-owned developers like id Software, Arkane, and Bethesda Studios will be Xbox first-party studios. Bethesda's Pete Hines and Todd Howard have stated they'll continue to publish their own games and they'll possibly come to other consoles.

The Medium releases this holiday on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. As more news comes out about the game, we'll be sure to let you know.
