Following a leak through the PEGI rating board website last week, today it has been confirmed that the indie hit The Messenger will be coming to PS4 and its arrival is sooner than you might think.

Sabotage Studio and Devolver Digital announced today that The Messenger is set to land on PS4 exactly one week from today on March 19. This is an extremely quick turnaround from announcement to release which is surely appreciated by those on PS$ who have been waiting for the game to come over. It's also worth noting that the PS4 release of The Messenger will be identical to the of the currently available Switch and PC versions of the game.

Along with announcing The Messenger's PS4 release today, Sabotage also provided an update on Picnic Panic, the name of the upcoming expansion for the game. First announced back in December at the Kinda Funny Games Showcase with a broad release window of 2019, Sabotage has today confirmed that Picnic Panic is scheduled to arrive at some point during this summer. Furthermore, if you didn't already know, the expansion will also be absolutely free and will be arriving on all three of the game's platforms.

If this is the first time you've ever heard or seen The Messenger, the trailer below should give you a better idea of what to expect from the action-platformer. And if you'd like to hear a more opinionated take on the game, be sure to check out our review as well.

The Messenger will retail for $19.99 when it arrives on PS4 next week.
