Since its reveal, the upcoming indie platformer The Messenger has garnered a ton of attention for its retro-flavored gameplay in the vein of the Ninja Gaiden series, and those that have been waiting for the game won't have to wait too much longer, as it will be out in just a few weeks on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that The Messenger will officially be releasing  on August 30th, 2018 for Nintendo Switch and PC, with pre-orders for the game now available on both the Nintendo eShop and Steam.

In addition to the release date announcement, Devolver also released a new trailer for the game highlighting its gameplay, in particular its most unique mechanic that allows players to switch between two worlds styled in 8-bit and 16-bit graphics. There are plenty of other surprises in store that the game seems to be hiding, but we don't want to spoil them for you here.
