Marvel's Hawkeye is out now and fans are wondering who does the Avengers Compound Rolex watch belongs to? Or why did the Tracksuit Mafia hunt it in the first place?

There is a lot going on in the Hawkeye show with Clint who still has to go home and Kate who has to find out what exactly is up with her mother and fiancee Jack. Besides this, there is Echo and the Tracksuit Mafia that still needs to be dealt with and the murder mystery and identity of "Uncle" are yet to be revealed.

With only two episodes left, we aren't sure if all of the above would be covered but for now, viewers are curious to know more about the Rolex watch that has been mentioned quite a few times now.

The Rolex watch in Hawkeye

The Rolex watch was first seen in Hawkeye Episode 1 when Kate Bishop ends up in a black-market auction where items from the Avengers Compound are being sold. The auction gets interrupted by the Tracksuit Mafia which is looking specifically for the watch.

In the recent Episode 4, Clint and his wife, Laura Barton discuss the Rolex watch in a phone call. Clint believes that the watch was destroyed long ago, however, Laura suspects that the watch might also have been stolen, just like Ronin's suit.

So Clint asks Laura to track down the watch by using its transmitter signal. She hunts down the item and texts the address of an apartment where the Rolex is currently present. It turns out that Echo aka Maya Lopez owns this apartment and she attacks Kate who went there to steal the watch.

Who does the watch in Hawkeye belong to?

On being questioned by Kate, Clint says that the Rolex belongs to someone he knows, and that person's identity is tied to the watch so it cannot fall in the wrong hands.

At the time of writing, it has been confirmed who owned the Rolex watch in Hawkeye but we have a theory as to who it might be.

One might think that the watch was used by Clint during his stint as Ronin. But it seems unlikely because Clint says that the owner of the watch has been 'out of the game' for a long time and he cannot have their secret cover blown up.

My best guess is that the Rolex watch in Hawkeye probably belonged to Laura. Here are a few reasons to support this theory:

Laura Barton in Hawkeye

First, we know nothing about Laura's past before she married Clint. She can speak German like a pro and is quite adept at gathering information like a spy. It is quite possible that Laura was an Agent of SHIELD before she married Clint and got "out of the game" like Hawkeye mentioned.

Or it could be an old gift from Laura to Clint when they were younger and maybe it's engraved with whatever old name she used as a SHIELD agent.

We could combine this with the fact that Echo was able to find out the identity of Clint Barton's family including his wife, kids, and their respective ages. So there is definitely something that ties Laura or Clint to the Rolex watch and this is why Hawkeye is desperate to find it.
