While 2020 has been in full swing for a few weeks now, a few awards ceremonies and organizations honoring last year's best and brightest games are still happening in the early part of the year. One of those is the New York Video Game Awards, which gathered together members of the games industry for its 9th annual ceremony.

Last night in Manhattan, the New York Video Game Awards for 2020 were held by the New York Video Game Critics Circle to honor the biggest gaming achievements of the past year, with awards recognizing various technical and artistic accomplishments from last year's games.

At the end of the night, Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds came away with the Big Apple Award for Game of the Year, while other notable wins included Disco Elysium winning Best Indie Game and Sayonara Wild Hearts winning Best Mobile Game. In addition to the list of awards below, two special recognition awards were given including The Knickerbocker Award for Best Games Journalism to Khee Hoon Chan, followed by the Andrew Yoon Legend Award to Reggie Fils-Aime for lifetime achievement and recognition for his work as the former president of Nintendo of America.
