The Nintendo DS is an insanely popular handheld console for a number of reasons: Its innovative touch controls, its luminous dual screens, and its outstanding software library. As of this holiday season however, it is now the most popular console on the continent of Australia. The device has reached a new precedent in global popularity.
To be more precise, it has cleared sales of three million units, replacing Sony’s PS2 as the continent’s biggest selling gaming console. The Nintendo 3DS will go on sale in America next year, but it will probably be a while before it dethrones its older brother as Aussie’s console of choice.
