In a new post on the PlayStation Blog, Mobius Digital's The Outer Wilds will launch on PlayStation 4 on October 15.

Published by Annapurna Interactive, The Outer Wilds is an open-world action/adventure game where players are an astronaut and the planets you explore explode every 22 minutes. After every 22 minutes, the game will restart and you can explore the solar system and how your astronaut got there.

"As the player uncovers secrets, they unravel the game's narrative: a web of interconnected mysteries. Every piece of written information in the game is useful in some way - there is no lore that only fleshes out an unimportant backstory," says Kelcey Rice, a producer at Mobius Digital. "Progression through the world of Outer Wilds is only limited by the player's knowledge, so we recommend waiting to watch others play through the game until after you've played it yourself. We've spent over five years creating and refining Outer Wilds and we're excited to bring it to PlayStation players everywhere on October 15."

Rice also mentions the game's inspirations came from films such as Apollo 13 and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Players need to use tools such as their jetpack, ship, and their knowledge in order to navigate the different planets. As someone who's never played it on Xbox One or PC, when it came out in May, I'm excited to give Outer Wilds a shot and explore the solar system.

The Outer Wilds launches on October 15 on PlayStation 4. Additionally, it's available on Xbox One and PC now. If you're interested, you can check out a PlayStation 4 launch trailer down below.
