Giant Squid may have recently ported Abzû to the Nintendo Switch, but they've also been working on a completely new project: The Pathless.

The first trailer for the game premiered at The Game Awards 2018 and featured one of the most visually striking compositions with a cloaked-in-red falconer. Not much is clear about the game but the trailer was a great indicator of the game's tone. The setting looks to contain a lot of ancient Chinese architecture as well as a terrifying fiery dog-looking creature with eyes on its legs that have to be hit with arrows.

The gameplay looks pretty smooth and according to the developers you'll be cleansing the woods of corrupted spirits. You can check out the trailer below.

The Pathless is just one of many indie titles that were announced at The Game Awards. We also got trailers for The Last Campfire and Among Trees. The Last Campfire is what Sean Murray has been doing in his downtime with the Hello Games crew. Among Trees is coming in 2019.

We don't know what platforms it will appear on, but I'd love to see it come to the Nintendo Switch upon launch which will be some time in 2019.

The Game Awards have turned into a huge setting for game announcements. Check out news regarding the announcement of Mortal Kombat 11 and the new PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds debuting its snow map here.
