The Pokémania Invades Italy: Pokémon Sun and Moon Most Pre-Ordered Ever; Brand Sales Up 59%

Nintendo Italy reached out today with a press release celebrating a massive increase in sales for the Pokémon brand after the release of Pokémon GO in the country.

In the latest three weeks, sales for older Pokémon titles increased in the country as follows:

  • Pokémon Alpha Sapphire – 71%
  • Pokémon Omega Ruby – 69%
  • Pokémon X – 52%
  • Pokémon Y – 89%
  • Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon – 8%
  • Overall increase for all four titles – 60%
  • Overall increase for the Pokémon brand – 59%

The sudden Pokémania is also influencing hardware, with sales of the 3DS family (including 2DS) increased by 33% since the launch of the smartphone game.

Last but not least, the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon, which will release on November 23rd in Italy (and on November 18th in North America) is currently the most pre-ordered Pokémon game ever in the country.
