3Mind Games, which is made up of former Ubisoft and EA developers, officially announced their first game today. That title is The Protagonist, a sci-fi turn based tactical RPG that takes inspiration from games like Mass Effect, XCOM, and Divinity: Original Sin.

According to the developers, one of The Protagonist's key features is its narrative follows Terran military force operative ANGEL, after an attack on an alien space ship goes awry and they awaken in the ships' infirmary. Throughout the game, ANGEL will have the ability to recruit a variety of different characters, including RADICAL, who is shown in the trailer.

Meanwhile, The Protagonist is also poised to have a "dynamic dialogue system" with several branching paths that result in radically different situations. When it comes to gameplay, as mentioned before, The Protagonist blends elements of both XCOM and Divinity: Original Sin. Players must use the Initiative and Action Points System, or I.A.P.S. to fully control each character every turn, so careful planning is encouraged.

You can check out the game's announcement trailer below. Currently, The Protagonist is only slated to release on PC, and will be launching sometime in 2019.
