The Serious Sam series has been one of the tentpoles of classic first-person shooters alongside Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, and Wolfenstein. Many classic shooters series have either died out or reinvented themselves for the modern gaming landscape. Serious Sam showed that it's still kicking when Serious Sam 4 came out earlier this year and now, the Serious Sam Collection has been announced for the Switch.

A tweet this morning from Devolver Digital, the game's publisher, said, "the hordes demanded Serious Sam Collection on #NintendoSwitch and who are we to argue." The tweet also included the release date, November 17, and a link to the Nintendo eStore listing for the game found here.

The Serious Sam Collection will include Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 3: BFE as well as The Legend of the Beast and the Jewel of the Nile expansions. It's listed for $29.99 but is not up for preorder just yet.

As of right now, it doesn't seem like there will be a physical release for the Switch port of the Serious Sam Collection, despite many fans in the comments asking for it. However, by the logic of Devolver Digital's tweet, if enough people are wanting it, they might just make it.

Additional questions in the comments ask about how exactly the port will function on the Switch. The joy-cons are not known for their precision aiming or ease of use when it comes to first-person shooters. However, other quick-paced FPS's, like Doom and Wolfenstein 2, have utilized the gyro aiming function on the controller to great success. It's unclear currently if the Serious Sam Collection will make use of that feature.
