Wales Interactive, a publisher known for FMV games like The Bunker, unveiled another FMV game today: The Shapeshifting Detective. The game is being developed by D'Avekki Studios, the studio behind The Infectious Madness of Dr. Dekker, and will release sometime during Q4 2018.

The Shapeshifting Detective is a supernatural murder mystery that has players investigating the murder of Dorta Shaw. In order to find the killer, players must shape-shift into up to nine different characters to find out which of three tarot card readers is guilty. The murderer is randomized as well, which should help with replayability and minimize spoilers.

According to developers, The Shapeshifting Detective features over 1600 FMV videos rendered in full HD, as well as multiple locations to spice things up. The game also features a branching storyline, so players won't be seeing the same FMV videos each time through the game. The shape-shifting mechanic is definitely a new an unique feature for an FMV game, so I am curious to see how much D'Avekki Studios takes advantage of it in the final product.
