The Simpsons: Hit and Run Producer Shares Thoughts on a Remaster

The producer of The Simpsons: Hit and Run speculates on the possibility of a remaster.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run was a hugely popular game based on the hit TV show, and over the years I’ve personally seen plenty of people gagging for a new introduction to the title, or at the very least, a remake. As it stands, that might happen.

In an interview with LADBible, Vlad Ceraldi the producer behind the 2003 game has speculated on the possibility of the game being remastered or remade.

“I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster.” Ceraldi told LADBible, “It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.”

He also went on to discuss how he knew the game that was developed by Radical Entertainment was special. “When you make something, sometimes you know you’ve made something special. This was one of the ones that we knew we hit the mark. We didn’t know it was going to sell as well as it did – we had high hopes, but it definitely hit its expectations”

Ceraldi has specified that talks of remaking the game have only been discussed in the pub, talking about recapturing the game in a new way with a different audience with a different generation of devices.

When discussing the capabilities of games these days he said, “there’s a lot more fidelity you can go for as far as content exploration than we were able to do in that particular era. There were a lot of references put into the game but we didn’t get everything. There’s a lot more things that could be done and that would be fascinating for sure.”

For those who never played the title, it was available on the classic Xbox, PS2, PC, and Nintendo Gamecube and saw players controlling a number of The Simpsons characters and taking on wacky missions. The game captured the humor of The Simpsons’ universe wonderfully. While the talks of a remaster obviously aren’t official and just pub banter, for now, the mention of having the title remastered might spark some interest in companies.
