In the lead up to Gamescom, Ukraine-based developer Frogwares Games and publisher Bigben Interactive have released a brand new trailer for The Sinking City, their upcoming open world investigation-horror game. This trailer specifically focuses on showcasing the deteriorating mental state of the main character while also giving first glimpses at gameplay.

For those of you who haven't heard of The Sinking City, it is a Lovecraftian-inspired open world game set in Massachusetts during the 1920s. The game follows Charles W. Reed, a private investigator who has ventured to the city of Oakmont, a former trading hub that has been flooded by supernatural means.

Most of The Sinking City's gameplay revolves around exploring this flooded city and investigating it thoroughly, as players need to stop a "cosmic horror" that is threatening the world as a whole. We get brief glimpse at those elements in the new trailer, though it mainly focuses on Charles shaving before things soon go awry.

You can check out the new gameplay trailer below. The Sinking City is currently poised to release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 21, 2019.
