By the excellent gaming history-keepers at Hardcore Gaming 101, The Guide To Classic Graphic Adventures looks to be the be-all, end-all guide to the classic adventure game genre. It's 772 pages of history and trivia, featuring articles on over 300 games and several interviews with some of the founders of the genre, like Al Lowe, designer of the original Leisure Suit Larry series, and Corey Cole, designer of the adventure game/RPG series Quest for Glory.

The scope of the book is immense; it covers games as old as King's Quest to games as new as Gemini Rue, from the classics of the olden days to modern indie games. No Telltale though.

You can find the book here. It's $27 for a printed copy, and $10 for a Kindle version, and it's available in the US and UK. If you're at all interested in adventure games, or if you're looking to pad out your knowledge of the genre, this is a must-buy.
