In a bit of news that was sure to excite plenty of gamers around the world, a new report revealed that Netflix is in the beginning stages of a television adaptation of The Witcher property, and while the video games have built the property into what it is today from its original source novels, it seems unlikely that the games' developer will have in involvement with the project.

CD Projekt RED's Radek Grabowski explained (via GamesRadar+) that it seems the studio will not be involved with the production of Netflix's The Witcher series, though Grabowski added that the team "wish this project all the best and are looking forward to watching the series on Netflix."

Though Grabowski didn't provide a specific reason for why CD Projekt RED will not be involved in the production, it's safe to assume that the company's contributions to the property might be limited to the acclaimed game series, though how much of the series borrows from the games will remain to be seen.

The news of a Netflix-produced television series of the games broke yesterday that the project is currently in the planning stages with the full collaboration of Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the original The Witcher novels and short stories that the series (and games) draw their inspiration from.

Stay tuned for more updates as the series develops, but in the meantime, you can take a look at our dream casting for the Netflix series and who we hope will play some of the franchise's most iconic characters.
